As a result, he was returned to Canada and passed away in Ninette Sanatorium. ANDERSON, Albert Jon WWII Albert, the son of Paul and Gudny Anderson, of the Bru district, was born on February 5, 1910. He enlisted in April of 1943 at Winnipeg and served in the Heavy Artillery. He was married and lived in Winnipeg. ANDERSON, Hjalti S. WWI Hjalti was born at Bru P.O. on June 26, 1883 the son of Skuli and Margret Arnason. He enlisted on March 12, 1918 and on to Europe in July. He returned in June of 1919. Hjalti had a store and was postmaster in Dominion City. He died in about 1945. ANDERSON, Sverre WWI Sverre was a Swedish labourer in this district and joined the 222nd while in Baldur. He was immediately sent overseas and paid the supreme sacrifice. No next of kin were known. BALLANTINE, Elwin Walter PEACETIME Elwin was born at Glenora, Manitoba, the son of Walter and Liz. He married Edna Gail Breault in April of 1966. He enlisted in Winnipeg in September of 1961 and trained at Edmonton and Kingston and was stationed at Victoria and Calgary. BAMBENEK, Tony WWII Tony was born to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bambenek. He enlisted in Winnipeg and trained at Rivers, Calgary, Mossbank and Sheppard. He also served overseas in England. He lived in Winnipeg. BATEMAN, John Hawthornwaite WWI John was born at Baldur, the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Bateman, late of Innisfail, British Columbia. John was a pilot in the R.C.A.F. and was lost over the Pacific in 1945. BENSON, Howard Richard WWI Howard was born at Cavan, Ontario. His parents were Stephen and Agnes Benson. He enlisted at Baldur, Manitoba. He served in France with the 12th C.R.T. for two years. He died on July 3, 1955 at Neepawa where he made his home . BROWN, Walter WWI Walter was born at Madoc, Ontario. He enlisted at Baldur where he resided and trained in Winnipeg before serving abroad. He married Florence May Chambers on March 11, 1919. He is deceased. BUNN, Hugh WWII Hugh was in the Active army back in the mid 1940’s and prior to that he was in the Home Guard (Fort Garry Horse during his high school days in The Pas, Manitoba. His active army number was H. 28510. CAMPBELL, Murdo WWII Murdo was born at Isle of Harris, Scotland and was the son of Norman and Hannah Campbell. He served from 1939 to 1945 going overseas in 1939. CARRELL, Henry WWI Henry was born at Belleville, Ontario. He married Carrie Kenney in 1906. They had one adopted son, Gordon. He enlisted with the 222nd at Baldur; whence he also received his discharge. CATHCART, Lorne WWII Lorne was born at Stonewall on October 9, 1916, the son of William and Marjorie Cathcart. He lived in Flin Flon and was employed as a foreman with the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. In July of 1946, he married Marjorie Anne. CHAMBERS, Alex WWI Alex paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I. He was married to Sybil Chester and they had one son, Russell. CHAMBERS, Harold WWI Harold was born at Ingersol, Ontario.
