179 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ROBINSON, Thomas W. WWI Thomas was born on March 28, 1897 in Millwood District, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Army in Millwood on July 14, 1916 at the age of nineteen. He served with the 3rd Battalion C.E. France and he served overseas with the 200th Battalion during World War I. He was discharged from services in May of 1919 in Winnipeg, MB. He was a member of the Binscarth Legion Branch 74 for forty years until he passed away on September 13, 1981 at the age of 84. ROBSON, James Earl WWII Earl was born in Melita, Manitoba on October 11, 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve in July of 1942. Following basic training, Earl was stationed in Halifax serving as a Stoker/Mechanic on Chippawa, Cornwallis, Stadacona, Avalon, Preserver and Perigrine until he was discharged on August 7, 1945. He served in the East Coast of Canada during World War II. Earl was awarded the War Service Badge. After discharge, Earl farmed with his wife Violet, raised one son and three daughters. Earl also drove a school bus for several years and spent two winters working at Alert, Nunavut at the Canadian Forces Station Alert as a mechanic in the early 70’s. They retired to Melita enjoying their family, curling, travelling and spending time in their cabin at Oak Lake. He was a member of the Melita Legion Branch 127 for 44 years. Earl passed away in 1986. ROSS, Don Don was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia in 1964. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Canadian Forces School of Survival and Aeromedical Training (CFSSAT). Don passed away in 2014.
