153 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca MONTROY, Emill WWI Emill was born at Rock Lake, Manitoba, the son of Louis and Mary Louise (Foy) Montroy. He enlisted at Baldur, MB where he trained and later at Camp Hughes. He served overseas with the 222nd Regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Force where he saw action in France and Belgium and was killed in action on April 28, 1917. MONYCH, Metro WWII Metro was born on February 19, 1919 in Meadowlands, Manitoba just outside of Winnipegosis, MB. He enlisted in the Army on March 4, 1942 with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles with the reg forces. He served in France, Germany, and England during World War II. Before his discharge on January 15, 1946 he was with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. After his service, he returned home to his wife and family. He worked as a labourer, fisherman and truck driver until he started with the Department of Public Works as a dredge hand. He worked dredging on Lake Winnipeg and Lake Winnipegosis until his retirement. He raised a large family and was a Life Member of the Winnipegosis Legion Branch 91 until it closed and then transferred to the Dauphin Branch 20. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1986 and passed away on September 13, 1987. MOORE, Wesley J. WWII Wesley was born in Saskatchewan in 1922. He enlisted in the Army and joined the Manitoba Dragoons in 1941 driving the armoured Staghounds. He served in France and in Eastern Europe during World War II. Also, he served in the Infantry and was a member in the quartermasters’ stores at one time. He is a member of the Legion in Fairlight, SK.
