He joined the Navy then transferred to the Army. He served in Canada and in England during World War II. Alec went overseas in March of 1945. He volunteered for the Pacific war and was sent home. When the Pacific war ended, Alec was discharged and moved to BC to pursue employment. LESLIE, Clifford “Cliff” WWII Cliff was born at Elkhorn, Manitoba and was raised on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Forestry Corps during World War II. He went overseas and served in Scotland. He returned home and moved to Savona, BC. LESLIE, Ronald “Ron” WWII Ron was born at Elkhorn, Manitoba and raised on the family farm. He enlisted in the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. Ron saw action with his regiment throughout the campaigns in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. While in England, he met and married Chris Sterling of Renfrew, Scotland. Chris came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 and began farming with Ron near Kirkella, MB. Ron was a member of the Elkhorn Legion Branch 58.
