115 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LEE, John D. “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Treherne, Manitoba on September 13, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery on December 2, 1942 and went overseas on December 14, 1943. He served during World War II in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. He received his discharge on March 13, 1946. He was awarded the 1939 – 1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939 – 1945. Jack was an active member of the Treherne Legion Branch 120 for thirty years. He passed away on July 19, 1977 and is buried at “Woodlands” Cemetery in Treherne. LEE, Robert Nathaniel “Bob” WWII Bob was born in Carberry, Manitoba in 1913. He enlisted in the Canadian Infantry Corps on June 5, 1944 from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He received his basic training at Prince Albert, SK and advance training in Calgary. He was then placed on overseas draft but final medical examinations revealed a defect in his hearing as a result of practice shelling explosions. This led to his removal from the draft and assignment to Pay Office duties. Bob worked with the Bank of Montreal for 48 years. He passed away in 2001. LEE, Thomas Henry “Harry” WWII Harry was born in Carberry, Manitoba in 1915. He enlisted in the Army in July of 1942 and was in the Postal Corps. He trained in Shilo and in Ottawa and was about to go overseas when the war ended. Throughout his life, Harry was an active member of the Carberry and District Royal Canadian Legion 153 being treasurer for many years and responsible for the Saturday night bingos. He was the postmaster in Carberry from 1947 to 1976. Harry passed away in 1986.
