He served during World War II with the #6 Bomber and Reconnaissance in the RCAF as part of the ground and flight crew working as a wireless mechanic. His squadron flew bombers that protected Canada’s west coast and island. He also flew anti-submarine patrols. Radio communication was vital and these technicians installed and maintained this equipment in the planes and on the installations on the ground. KITSON, Clifford A. WWII Clifford was born in Reston, Manitoba in 1921. He was recruited at Brandon College (Brandon University) to train C.O.T.C. officer cadets for that profession. He later transferred to regular forces, artillery and trained at Fort Benning in Georgia, USA with #8 Company, 1st S.T.R.T.I.S. He volunteered for service in the Pacific but the war ended before his overseas service began. His picture was taken in World War II battle dress with his Father Earl. Clifford passed away in 2003. KITSON, Earl WWI & WWII Earl served with the British Expeditionary Force in France in World War I. With other Canadians in his regiment, he fought in the Battle of the Mons. In his time at the “front” he was gassed and was wounded once. In World War II, he again donned uniform and served in Canada on the “home front”. His picture was taken in World War II battledress with his son Clifford.
