He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served during World War I. George passed away in Tilston, MB in 1959. EISTHEN, John P. M. “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Holland, MB in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served during World War II. Jack passed away in 1988. ELSTON, William George WWI William was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1895. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in France with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment as a motorcycle dispatcher from 1914 to 1919. He inhaled a bit of mustard gas, which he would mention every now and then for most of his life. When they got word that the war ended, they went to a French pub to celebrate, when the last shell in that sector landed on his motorcycle outside the pub. His awards include the British War Medal 1914-20 and the Victory Medal 1914-18. William passed away in 1952. ELLIOTT, Tarlton Albert WWII Tarlton was born in Ferndale District, SK on August 21, 1921 to Albert Samuel Elliott and Rosalea Elsie Shaw. He was the second of nine children. In 1927, he moved with his family to a farm in the Beaver Rapids District of the Rural Municipality of Ellice, MB. Tarlton received his elementary and high schooling in Welwyn and upon graduation worked as a farm hand for Harry Rose, Wilfred Barkley and his father. He also worked on the community pasture during its construction in 1939. In 1940, he joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 14th Battalion Canadian Army Medical Corps as an ambulance driver. After training at Shilo and Camp Borden, he was shipped to England in January 1941. He married Mary McQueen in 1942 and had a son, Albert Tarlton, in 1943. His awards include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-45, the Defence Medal and the France and Germany Star. Tarlton was killed in action on July 25, 1944 in Normandy and is buried in the Bény-sur-Mer Canadian Cemetery in Normandy.
