He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with No. 110 Squadron in England during World War II. He was a member of Morden Legion Branch 11 for 20 years. John passed away in 1998. DOOLEY, Jim WWII Jim was born in Hartney, MB in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 19th Field Regiment, Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery and served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Jim obtained the rank of Gunner. DRAPER, Leslie Ceasar WWII Leslie was born in Hartney, MB in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and trained in Fort William, ON as well as Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton, AB. He moved to Vancouver in 1943 and worked at the Army Garage before being sent to the Royal Canadian Artillery Army Garage in Petawawa, ON where he worked until the end of the war. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1945 to work at the McDonald Airport Garage until his discharge on April 1, 1946. After his discharge, Leslie went back to Virden, MB and worked for Vic Yasinsky before purchasing the business which he developed into Draper & Stendall. He married Bernice Kirkness on October 15, 1949 and had two sons and a daughter: Duane, Sandra and Kevin. Leslie has been a member of Virden Legion Branch 8 for 23 years. DOUGLAS, Keith WWII Keith was born in Hartney, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. His combat duty was to locate and attack enemy shipping. He obtained the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
