He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 10th District National Resources Mobilization Act. He trained in Halifax and Vancouver. Corporal Denbow passed away in 1978. DENNEL, Glen A. WWII Glen was born in Kenora, ON in 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve overseas. He was a member of Kenora Legion Branch 12 for 11 years. Glen passed away in 1985. DOAR, William E. WWI William was born in England on January 18, 1894 and immigrated to the United States in 1911 before moving to Canada in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 2nd Canadian Infantry Battalion in England and France. He was awarded the Military Medal and Bar for bravery in the field. After the war, he returned to Langruth, MB where he married and raised a family. He was a member of Langruth Legion Branch 162 for 40 years. William passed away in 1974. DIONNE, Alexander J. WWII Alexander was born in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB on May 2, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army at the age of 19 and received his basic training in Shilo, MB before being sent to eastern Canada for more training. He served with the 70th Battery Canadian Field Artillery. He arrived in England on August 19, 1942, Day of Dieppe. In 1943, he qualified as signaler wireless operator and in 1944 disembarked in Normandy with the 4th Canadian Infantry Division. He patrolled the Leopold Canal for three weeks waiting for the Scheldt battle to begin. In November 1944, he was sent to England for repatriation and on December 21, he boarded the Queen Elizabeth to New York. He was finally reunited with his family on January 1, 1946 in Dunrea, MB. Alexander has been a member of Virden Legion Branch 8 for 61 years.
