59 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca CORNICK, Wilfred G. WWII Wilfred was born in Portage la Prairie, MB in 1923. At the age of 18, he enrolled in the Royal Canadian Army. He served with the Royal Westminster Regiment and 1st Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry as an armoured car driver. He served in Italy where he survived two vehicles exploding as he drove. Wilfred received five medals. COULING, Kenneth William WWII Kenneth was born in Lauder, MB in 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Canadian Scottish Infantry in France and Normandy. Kenneth was killed in action in 1944 in Ambleteuse, France. Couling Lake was named after him in 1972 and he is also commemorated at the Calais Canadian War Cemetery in France. COVERNTON, Percy H. WWI Percy was born in Knighton, Radnorshire, Wales in 1869. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army on November 13, 1916 registering his year of birth as 1872 as he was almost 47 years of age. He served overseas with the Canadian Military Engineers and the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Britain and France. He received the British War Medal 1914-20 and the Victory Medal 1914-18. Percy passed away in 1941. COUVIER, Stuart WWII Stuart was born in Carnduff, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps 2nd Division in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Stuart obtained the rank of Private.
