At the age of 14, he joined the Royal Canadian Army, as his older brothers were in the service, and served as a bugler. He served in England and France during World War I. James was killed in the trenches of France in 1918 at the age of 18. BJARNASON (BARNSON), Paul K WWI Paul was born in Iceland in 1895 and immigrated to Canada at the age of four. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served as a military policeman for the Canadian Army in England during World War I. After the war, he returned to Selkirk where he married Elizabeth Phelps and raised his children. The name Bjarnason was changed to Barnson after the war. Paul passed away in 1980. BLAIR, Charles Campbell WWII Charles was born in Maple Creek, SK in 1909. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 3rd Field Regiment in England, Africa and Italy. His awards include the Italy Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He had been a member of Langruth Legion Branch 162 for 44 years. Charles passed away in 1996. BJARNASON, Yance WWI Yance was born in Iceland in 1893 and immigrated to Canada at the age of six. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Canadian Infantry in England and France. Yance was killed in action on September 4, 1916 in France.
