239 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca YARWOOD (WOODHULL), Alice WWII Alice was born in Francis, SK. She joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps during World War II. Lieutenant Yarwood passed away in 1970. YOUNG, Thomas Alexander WWI Thomas was born in Rossburn, MB on May 14, 1886. He joined the Army in 1916 and served with the 78th Winnipeg Grenadiers. Private Young left for England in May 1916 and to France in July 1916. He was wounded at Vimy Ridge, and again at the capture of Montdidier and was only back in action for fifteen days when he was wounded on September 20, 1918. These last wounds proved fatal and he passed away on October 2, 1918. Thomas is buried in Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, France. ZORN, George J. WWII George was born at Two Creeks, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Army on June 16, 1941. After basic training in Canada, he went to England and was assigned to D Convoy in the Algonquin Regiment. George saw action with his Regiment in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned to Canada and was discharged in Winnipeg on March 8, 1946. ZILKEY, Arnold C. WWII Arnold was born in Altamont, MB in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served until his discharge in March 1945. He was a member of Altamont Legion Branch 195 for 44 years. Arnold passed away in 1989.
