235 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca WOOD, Earle Craig WWII Earle was born in Miami, MB on February 23, 1923 to Albert and Edith Wood. They lived on a farm in the Opawaka School District. At the age of 19, Earle joined the Air Force in Winnipeg and trained in Edmonton and Whitehorse, Yukon where he was stationed for the duration of the war and took his electrical training. After the war, Earle worked for Manitoba Hydro in Winnipeg and was on a gang that did rural electrification. On June 19, 1948, Earle married Dorothy Hess, with whom he had six children, and they lived in St Pierre, Neepawa, Alexander, Winkler and Morden throughout the years. He was district supervisor in Winkler for 22 years and superintendent over Winkler and Morden for 20 years. He was a member of Morden Legion Branch 11 for 22 years. Earle passed away of cancer on February 6, 1997. WOOD, Stephen Roy WWII Stephen was born in Boissevain, MB in 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons before transferring to the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. He served in Britain during World War II. Stephen passed away in 1976. WOODS, Albert Douglas WWII Albert was born in St. Rose, MB on March 9, 1921. He served with the Canadian Forestry Corps in England, Scotland, Germany and Holland. He was a member of Bowsman Legion Branch 51 for over fifty years. Albert passed away on February 5, 2012. WOODCOCK, Art WWII Art was born in Hartney, MB in 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in the 6th Division during World War II, obtaining the rank of Gunner.
