He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada from 1941-1945 as a mechanic. After his discharge, Cliff and his wife Betty lived in Portage la Prairie and Virden before moving to Elkhorn in 1951, where he drove school bus for the Fort La Bosse School Division until he retired. Cliff was an active member of Elkhorn Legion Branch 58. SABAD, Kenneth J. SPECIAL DUTY AREA Kenneth was born in Killarney, MB in 1938. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in Winnipeg, MB on November 2, 1955. He spent five years with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada before becoming a physical training instructor for 19 years. He had several postings in Canada and served three years in Germany with NATO and six months in Egypt with the United Nations Emergency Force. He was released with the rank of Sergeant in November 1979 and spent 14 years with Corrections Canada before retiring to Souris, MB in 1994. Kenneth has been a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 for 17 years. SCHARF, W. Garry WWII Garry was born in Hartney, MB in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in the 2nd Division in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Garry obtained the rank of Craftsman. SAGER, Lawrence WWII Lawrence was born in Edmonton, AB in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Germany, France, Holland and Belgium. Lawrence passed away in 1982.
