He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and obtained the rank of Trooper. Gordon passed away in 1992. PHILIPS, William E. WWII William was born on February 14, 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 48 Highlanders of Canada during World War II. William has been a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for 42 years. PLUMB, Gordon K. WWII & KOREA Gordon was born in Binscarth, MB in 1921. He served with the 16th Field Regiment, 70th Battery, 2nd Battalion and the Queen’s Own Rifles in Europe, Korea and the Far East. When Gordon was discharged in 1945, he couldn’t find a job and reenlisted in 1952 serving in Korea until his discharge in 1955. He married Grace Crawford and lived in Chatham, ON before moving back to Binscarth. He was a Legion member for 30 years. Gordon passed away in 2002. PLANTE, Bernard A. J. “Ben” WWII Ben was born in Saint Boniface, MB on May 16, 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a bulldozer operator. He helped build the Corduroy Road for the air strips in Victoria and the roads into the radar station. At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Corporal. He was a member of Springfield Legion Branch 146 for 28 years. Ben passed away on July 26, 2003.
