He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Winnipeg Rifles and the Royal Edmonton Regiment in Sicily and Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Cross of the Kingdom of the Netherlands by the Dutch Consulate in Winnipeg on behalf of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. He was a member of Morden Legion Branch 11 and was its President in 1953 and 1968-69. Ramsay passed away in 2004. MOONEY, Nelson O. WWII Nelson was born in Cartwright, MB in 1923. After completing his education, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Armoury Division and served in England as an armourer. At the end of the war, he worked for a while in Winnipeg, and then decided to reenlist in the Air Force. In 1957, after serving at MacDonald Air Station and Portage la Prairie, Nelson was stationed in Germany and was there until 1962. On his return to Canada, Corporal Mooney was posted to British Columbia where he remained until retirement. Nelson, his wife Margaret (nee Reid) and their six children later moved to Campbell River, BC. Nelson passed away in 2001. MORRIS, Wilson L. WWII Wilson was born in Lampman, SK in 1917. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1941 and trained at Camp Shilo, MB. He drove a mail truck in England, Africa and Italy. MORRIS, Mel WWII Mel was born in Lampman, SK in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1939 and trained at Camp Borden and Winnipeg, MB. He served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England and Scotland but was wounded and sent back to Winnipeg in 1942. He was a member of Hartney Legion Branch 26. Mel passed away in 1972.
