He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps throughout Canada from 1942 until 1946 attaining the rank of Captain. He served with the Militia in Swan River until 1960. He was very active with the Swan River Legion Branch 39 for 38 years and served as President in 1956-57. Ivan passed away in 1985 and is buried in the Birchwood Cemetery in Swan River, MB. MAULT, Stanley H. H. WWII Stanley was born in Portage la Prairie in 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and trained in Brandon, MB. Gunner Mault served with the Royal Canadian Artillery in England, France, Germany, Holland and Continental Europe. On February 27, 1945, he was wounded in Germany and hospitalized in Ghent, Belgium with shell fragments in both thighs. He returned to Canada on December 15, 1945. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the King George VII Medal. After the war, he lived with his wife Inez in Swan River, MB and they had six children. He was a Life Member of Swan River Legion Branch 39. Stanley passed away in 1997. McCOLL, James “Jim” PEACETIME Jim was born on the family farm, north of Elkhorn, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in February 1955 and was a member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, serving two years with his Regiment in Soest, West Germany. Jim left the army at the end of this three-year enlistment, at which time he worked for Petro-Canada and later ran his own trucking business in Elkhorn. In 1974, he and his wife Shirley, along with their four daughters, moved to Fife Lake, SK, where he bought grain for the Pioneer Grain Company until he retired. Jim passed away in 2012 and is buried in the Fife Lake, Cemetery. McCALL, Eric J. WWII Eric was born in Penrith, England in 1910. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in England from 1941 to 1946. He was a member of Birtle Legion Branch 55 for 40 years. Eric passed away in 1991.
