He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Provost Corps during World War II. He was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for 54 years. William passed away in 2002. MADILL, Clifford S. WWI Clifford was born in Altamont, MB in 1897. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1918 and after very little training was sent to Montreal on overseas draft. An outbreak of scarlet fever or diphtheria caused a quarantine of his whole unit and when the quarantine was lifted, the events in Europe were winding down and they were not sent overseas. He served with the 78th Battalion, Winnipeg Grenadiers. After demobilization, he returned to Altamont and farmed for over 50 years. Clifford passed away in 1981. MAHONEY, Joseph G. WWII Joseph was born in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served during World War II. He was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for over 55 years before he passed away in 2007. MAGNOWSKI, Nick WWI Nick was born in the Rural Municipality of Rossburn, MB on May 28, 1916 and served in the Royal Canadian Army. After his service in the Military, in 1946, Nick started a service station in Angusville, MB and was a sales person for Massy Harris and for Ford Mercury cars. In 1952, he moved to Russell and started a construction business building homes. He started a concrete business which is still being operated by his sons, Tom and Keith.
