He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the Royal Air Force Bomber Command, 5th Group, No. 61 Squadron in Continental Europe during World War II. Ronald passed away in 2001. HODGSON, Vic WWII Vic was born in Vancouver, BC in 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served during World War II, obtaining the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. Vic passed away in 2009. HODSON, Albert Innes PEACETIME Innes was born in Virden, MB in 1932. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1956 having previously earned his Private Pilot’s License while working for the federal Department of Agriculture in Alberta. Back then the military flying training was carried out in conjunction with our NATO Allies and pilots from nine different countries trained together. He served in London and Centralia, Ontario bases; Moose Jaw and Saskatoon bases in Saskatchewan; and in the Edmonton and Namao bases in Alberta. Innes received his flying officer commission while flying B-25s out of Saskatoon in 1958 before returning to No. 418 Squadron based in Edmonton and continued to fly B-25s. He obtained his Commercial Pilot’s Licence while flying with Search and Rescue operations out of Namao. Following his tour of duty, Innes returned to civilian life and a farming career. He has been a member of Virden Legion Branch 8 for 52 years. HODGSON, William WWI William was born in Manitou, MB on April 2, 1894 to John and Ellen Hodgson. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse in Britain and France during World War I. He obtained the rank of Corporal and received the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal 1914-20 and the Victory Medal 1914-18. William was killed in action on March 30, 1918 and is buried at the Vimy Memorial in France.
