He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on July 29, 1941 and trained in Canada until July 1942 when he was sent overseas to the United Kingdom. He served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps No.10 District Depot in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. On December 11, 1943, he married Mary Anne Elizabeth Sutton and a son was born in England the next year. Roy was wounded in action on October 23, 1944 and he returned to Canada, being discharged on January 14, 1946. Mary and their son joined him in Virden, MB where they had four more children. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Roy passed away on December 24, 1986 and is buried in the Virden Cemetery. HEITHOFF, Curtis T. PEACETIME Curtis was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1991. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in March 2010, six months after graduating high school, and trained as a land communication and information service technician. Private Heithoff has been stationed in Kingston, ON at the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics. HILLMAN, Clyde W. WWII Clyde was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England, Italy and Northwestern Europe during World War II. He was a member of Kenora Legion Branch 12 for 65 years before he passed away in 2010. HENRY, Alex WWII Alex was born in 1923. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Canadian Forestry Corps in the United Kingdom and Europe during World War II. He was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for 51 years. Alex passed away in 2003.
