105 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca HANSON, Lloyd Andrew WWII Lloyd was born in Swan River, MB on August 23, 1919 to Abe and Dora Hanson. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Quebec on January 21, 1942. He served with the National Resources Mobilization Act from March 19, 1941 to January 20, 1942. Sergeant Hanson served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and he is mentioned in Dispatches. Lloyd was discharged on February 21, 1946. He was a member of Swan River Legion Branch 39 for over 50 years. Lloyd passed away on January 8, 2000 and is buried in Fairdale Cemetery in the Big Woody District. HARDER, Peter Henry WWII Peter was born in Horndean, MB in 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on May 24, 1943 and served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in Germany and France during World War II. He was wounded in France on June 6, 1944. His awards include the 1939-45 Star, the War Medal 1939-45, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of Winnipeg Legion Branch 1 and Morden Legion Branch 11 for over 50 years. Peter passed away in 2003. HASTINGS, Walter Anderson WWI Walter was born in Keewatin, ON in 1890. He moved to Winnipeg as a boy and worked for the family milling company. Walter enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served overseas in Britain and France as a Captain with the Expeditionary Force, Fort Garry Horse. His awards include the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Walter passed away on August 23, 1955 at the age of 63. HASTINGS, Victor John WWI Victor was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1887. He practiced law at Aikins prior to enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army in 1914 and serving overseas in Britain and France. He was presented the Military Cross by King George for his bravery in the Battle of Langemarck in 1915 with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, Canadian Scottish Battalion. He received a gunshot wound and never fully recovered although he continued to serve until 1919. His awards include the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He retired from service as a Lieutenant Colonel. Victor passed away on January 11, 1932.
