He joined the Army in World War II and served with the 1st Division of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean, Sicily, Italy, Holland and Germany. Corporal Hathaway was wounded in Italy in December 1944. HAYNE, Robert J. WWII Robert was born in Killarney in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada during World War II. Robert passed away in 2005. HAYWARD, Roy E. WWI Roy was born in Landon in 1897. He joined the Canadian Army during WWI and served in England and France with the 8th Canadian Battalion, 90th Rifles. Private Hayward was discharged on May 7, 1919 and was awarded the War Service Badge Class A, the King George Medal and the Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919. Roy passed away in 1968. HAYNE, William G. WWII William was born in 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served in Canada and in the United Kingdom during WWII. William was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for fifty years before he died in 2006.
