He joined the Canadian Army and served in the United Kingdom and Europe with LSR Motor in World War II. Bill was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for twenty-three years before he passed away in 2003. GRIBBEN, Thomas WWII Thomas joined the Army and served in Europe, Malaysia and Singapore with the Seaforth Highlanders. He has been a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 for thirty-one years. GRIEVE, Albert WWII Albert was born in Lauder, Manitoba in 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served during World War II. GRIDLEY, Ernest Edward WWII Ernest was born in Winnipeg in 1919. He joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles on September 10, 1940 and was “struck off the strength” on October 1, 1945 as a First Lieutenant. He landed in France on the evening of June 6, 1944 and was wounded two days later as well as in October in Holland and on February 1, 1945 in Belgium. He sometimes remarked that he was usually in hospital when promotions were being passed around. He was discharged after serving in England, France, Holland and Germany. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion before he died in 2009.
