51 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca DELLOW, Richard Samuel WWI Richard enlisted in the Army during World War I and served with A Company, 114th Battalion. Later in France, he was with the Winnipeg Rifles. Richard fought at the Battle of the Somme, Vimy, Hill 70 and Passchendaele. He was killed in action in 1918 at Amiens, France. DENBOW, Rueben WWI Rueben was born in Deleau, Manitoba in 1896. He joined the Canadian Army during World War I and served with the 43rd Cameron Highlanders of Canada and in France at Amiens, Monchy, Bourlon Wood and Bevrages on Bruary. He marched into Mons on November 11, 1918, Armistice Day. Rueben passed away in 1967. DICKIE, Bruce WWII Bruce was born in Lauder, Manitoba in 1917. He joined the Army and served as Lance Bombardier in France on D-Day and in Belgium, Holland and Germany. Bruce was with the 21st Field Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery and trained with the 14th and 34th Field Batteries during World War II. DICK, Maxim “Max” KOREA & PEACETIME Max was born on May 14, 1936 in Whitebeech, Saskatchewan. He married Shirley McKim and they had one son. Max joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1953 and served on the high seas and in Korea on HMCS Sioux and HMCS Margaree. He was honourably discharged on September 18, 1958. Upon his discharge, he worked at various jobs and places and eventually returned to Arran, Saskatchewan where he still lives. Max has been a member of Swan River Legion Branch 39 for twenty years.
