He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on November 14, 1915 and served with the 179th Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. CAVERS, John D. WWI John was born in 1891 in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 1, 1918 and served with 1st Depot Battalion. John passed away in 1963. CHERCOE, Ronald L. SPECIAL DUTY AREA Ronald was born in 1939 in Tyndall, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1958 and following pilot training, was posted overseas to 427 and 430 Fighter Squadrons, flying F-86 Sabre aircraft. He was back in Canada in 1963 to instruct on Harvards and Tutors at 2 CFFTS in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1966, he was posted to the CF-104 Starfighter Program. Following OTU at Cold Lake, Alberta, he was posted to 441 Recce Squadron at Lahr, Germany and on his return to Canada in 1970 for Staff School, he was posted to the Directorate of Flight Safety in Ottawa. His next posting was in 1973 to 435 Transport Squadron in Edmonton which he left in 1977 to instruct at the Instrument Check Pilot School in Winnipeg. In 1980, he was promoted to Major and posted to Air Command Headquarters. Later in 1980, he retired from the Forces to pursue a career with Transport Canada. Ronald has been a member of Stonewall Legion Branch 52 for more than twelve years. CHAMBERS, William J. WWII William was born in 1915 in Maryfield, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in World War II and served with the Royal Canadian Rifles in Holland and Germany. William was a member of Atikokan Legion Branch 145 for fifty-six years before he died in 2010.
