He joined the Army and served with the 108th Battalion then transferred to the Scottish Canadian Regiment in England and France. He died in 1944. TAYLOR, Thomas WWII Thomas was born in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. He joined the Army and served in Europe with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He was captured at the Dieppe Raid and became a prisoner of war in Germany. Thomas was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Dieppe Bar. He passed away in 1977. TENNYSON, William E. PEACETIME William was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1944. He enlisted in the Army at Fort Osborne Barracks in November 1960 and did his basic training in Calgary at Currie Barracks. He also trained in Sarcie, Wainright and Dundurn in Saskatchewan and went to Suffield twice for gas training. William served with the Queen’s Own Rifles, 2nd Battalion before being released in November 1964 as a Rifleman First Class. He has been a member of Oxdrift Legion Branch 41. TAYLOR, Vance C. SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Vance was born in London, Ontario in 1962. He has served on HMCS Yukon, Saskatchewan, Oriole and Cowichan as well as at CFB Borden, 10/90 Battalion (3 RCR) Borden, 3 RCR Petawawa, 2 Service Battery Petawawa and 17 Wing Winnipeg. He was also with SDA from July 1998 to January 1999 in Bosnia; CFS Alert from October 2001 to April 2002; and Camp Julien at Kabul, Afghanistan from January to August 2004. Vance has received the Special Service Medal (Alert Bar), the Canadian Forces Decoration 1, the Former Yugoslavia Peacekeeping Medal, the Queen’s Jubilee and the ISAF (Afghanistan). He has been a member of Henderson Legion Branch 215 for a few years.
