WWII David, of Pine Falls, Manitoba, joined the Army in World War II and served as a Rifleman in Canada, England and Europe with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He was killed in action on June 12, 1944 and is commemorated at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France. Sabiston Lake, west of Nuelton Lake, was named after him in 1972.
