197 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ROSS, John David “Jack” WWII Jack and his twin sister Kathleen were born on the farm north of Elgin, Manitoba to George and Elizabeth Wallace on December 9, 1919. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in March 1941 and received his training at Brandon, Regina, Portage la Prairie and Macdonald before going overseas in August 1942 to serve with 423 Squadron. Flight Lieutenant Ross was killed in action on February 11, 1945 and is buried in Irvingstown, Ireland. ROSS, Kenneth T. WWI Kenneth joined the Army and served with the 222nd Battalion then transferred to the 1st C.M.R. Lance Corporal Ross was killed in action at Vimy Ridge in Northern France in 1917. RYCKMAN, Bert WWII Bert was born in 1920 in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in Canada as a Sergeant with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps during World War II. RUSSELL, Orville WWII Orville was born in 1916 in Alida, Saskatchewan. During World War II, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and served as a Gunner in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the 2nd Canadian Corps attached to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Divisions Battery and the 6th Anti-tank Regiment.
