191 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca RICHARDSON, Lloyd M. WWII Lloyd was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1916. He joined the Canadian Army together with his brother Jack and they were sent overseas to England. As part of the Calgary Highlanders, they fought together until Jack was killed in action in France. Lloyd was a member of Flin Flon Legion Branch 73 and he passed away in 2005. ROBB, John WWI John was born in 1893 at Hudson Bay House in Fairford, Manitoba but lived in the Leifur district most of his life. He joined the Canadian Army in the 203th Battalion and went overseas in 1916. He was later transferred to the 44th Battalion and saw action at Vimy Ridge. Private Robb was wounded in April 1917 and he was sent to Belgium where he did guard duty. John returned to Canada in June 1919. He was a member of Langruth Legion Branch 162 for about thirty years before he died in 1982. ROBERTS, Alfred Ruben WWII Alfred was born in 1921 in Herb Lake, Manitoba and he served with the Heavy Artillery Aircraft Battery during World War II. Alfred lived in Herb Lake, Snow Lake and Flin Flon, Manitoba and never married nor had children. He passed away at Deer Lodge Hospital in Winnipeg in 1972 and was buried in Brookside Cemetery in Snow Lake. ROBB, William G. WWII William was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1924 but was raised in the Leifur district. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1943 and took his basic and advanced training at Portage la Prairie and Camp Shilo before proceeding to Debert, Nova Scotia and sailing for England in 1944. Private Robb then went to Italy to join the Perth Regiment and was wounded in action that year. The next few months were spent in various field and convalescent hospitals after which William returned to Canada on the Queen Elizabeth and was discharged from service in 1946. He was a member of Langruth Legion Branch 162 for more than thirty years before he passed away in 2009.
