181 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca PATERSON, Ralph F. WWII Ralph was born in 1925 in Stonewall, Manitoba. He joined the Army during World War II and served in Canada with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion. Ralph has been a member of Stonewall Legion Branch 52 for more than forty-five years. PAUL, Aubrey M. WWII Aubrey was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1917. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and served in Canada. Aubrey has been a member of Virden Legion Branch 8 for more than fifty years. PHILLIPS, Lloyd A. WWI Lloyd was born in 1892 in Bryanston, Ontario and moved to Manitoba at an early age, spending most of his life in Amaranth, Manitoba. Lloyd joined the Canadian Forces in 1916 and served in the 16th Battalion during World War I. He went overseas and saw action in France at Mons and Ypres. Towards the end of the war, Lloyd spent some time in an English hospital with the Spanish Flu and he was discharged in 1919. Lloyd was a member of Langruth Legion Branch 162 before he passed away in 1966. PEARCE, Harry WWI Harry was born in 1872 in Yorkshire, England. He was married with five children when he joined the 221st Overseas Battalion in Winnipeg on April 29, 1916 and served in France during WWI. He also fought with the 27th Battalion. Harry was demobilized on May 20, 1919 at the age of 46 and a sixth child, a son, was born in February 1920. After the war, Harry formed the Rural Municipality of Glenwood and he passed away at the age of 85 on September 13, 1957. Harry is buried in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Brandon, Manitoba.
