He enlisted in the Canadian Armoured Corps Division then transferred to the 5th Division of Fort Garry Horse, serving in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Melville was a Life Member of Hartney Legion Branch 26 for more than fifty years before he passed away in 2005. MORDEN, Russell WWII Russell was born in 1922 in Hartney, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery Corps and trained in Orillia and Camp Borden, becoming a Tank instructor in Canada. Russell was a member of Hartney Legion Branch 26 for more than twenty-five years as well as Past President before he passed away in 2010. MORRISSEAU, Edward J. WWII Edward was born in Pine Falls (Sagkeeng), Manitoba in 1918. He enlisted in the Winnipeg Grenadiers and served in Canada. He died on December 23, 1945 at the age of 27. Edward is commemorated at Fort Alexander Indian Reserve Roman Catholic Cemetery in Manitoba. Morrisseau Lake, northeast of Lake Brochet, was named after him in 1979. MORRISON, William G. WWI William was born in 1898 in Melgund. He joined the Army in World War I and served with the 90th Winnipeg Rifles and the 11th Reserve before being transferred to the 23rd Reserve. He sailed on the Olympic and fought at the battles of the Somme, Arras, Vimy and Hill 70. William was a Life member of Hartney Legion Branch 26 before he passed away in 1972.
