135 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LOVATT, Charles Wesley WWI Charles was born on August 20, 1886 to Alfred and Jane Lovatt of Souris, Manitoba. He joined the Army and served as a Private with the 12th Field Ambulance. He was killed in action on October 29, 1917 and is buried at the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery in Belgium. LOVE, John WWII John was born in the Hartney area of Manitoba in 1907. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in World War II and served from 1943 to 1945. John passed away in 1977. LUNDALE, Robert S. WWII Robert was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII and served on HMCS Meon in Canada, on the high seas and in England. Robert was a member of Eriksdale Legion Branch 140 for thirty-three years before he passed away in 2003. LUMGAIR, Norman A. WWII Norman was born in Morden, Manitoba on April 12, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on February 26, 1942 and trained in Brandon, Dauphin, Saskatoon and Price Albert. He left Halifax on March 27, 1943 and on April 4, disembarked in England where he had further training and served with 408 Squadron. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman, then Warrant Officer and Pilot Officer, Norman received his Flying Badge on March 5, 1943. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Maple Leaf and the Memorial Cross. Norman was killed in action over Stuttgart on March 15, 1944.
