109 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ISSACSON, Gustav E. WWI Gustav was born in Gardar, North Dakota on December 10, 1894. He farmed south of Morden, Manitoba in the 1-6 District before enlisting on June 14, 1918 in the Canadian Army in World War I. After serving in England, Gustav was discharged in 1919 on September 25. He married Sigurlin Kristjanson and they had one daughter. Gustav passed away in 1975. ISSACSON, Sigurgeir WWI Sigurgeir was born on August 4, 1892 in Gardar, North Dakota. He farmed in the 1-6 District south of Morden, Manitoba prior to enlisting in World War I. Sigurgeir enlisted in the Canadian Army on June 4, 1918 and served in England until his discharge on June 25, 1919. After the war, he returned to Canada and farmed until his death in 1964. JACKSON, William WWI William joined the 222nd Battalion in 1916 and went to France with the 16th M. G. Company followed by the 4th C. M. G. Battalion. He fought at Vimy, Amiens and at the Somme. William became dangerously ill in 1918 but was kept on duty. It is said he died in hospital from neglect of care and proper medical attention. IZZARD, Royce A. WWII Royce was born in Ontario in 1914. He joined the Canadian Army during World War II and served in England and Scotland. Royce passed away in 1976.
