101 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca HODGES, Lloyd WWII Lloyd was born in Rainy River, Ontario on September 1, 1922. He worked on a farm and for the Canadian National Railway prior to enlisting in the Army on December 2, 1942 and serving with the Hastings and Prince Edward and Winnipeg Rifles Regiments in Canada, England, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He attained the ranks of Corporal, Company Sgt Major and Quarter Master Sgt before being discharged in Winnipeg on June 7, 1946. He then resumed his career with the CNR in September 1946 and retired as a locomotive engineer in September 1987. Lloyd was a member of Major Hughes Legion Branch 54 for fifty-seven years and served as President, Past President, 1st and 2nd Vice President, House and Finance Chairman, and held other Club positions. He was awarded the Meritorious Medal, the Palm Leaf and the Life Membership. He was also Reeve of Atwood Twp for 40 years before he passed away on December 13, 2003. HOGAN, Thomas A. WWII Thomas was born in 1927. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and served during World War II. Thomas was a member of Fort William Legion Branch 6 prior to his death in 2002. HOLDEN, John WWI John joined the 222nd Battalion during World War I then transferred to the 44th Battalion, followed by the Canadian M. G. Company. He fought in France at Vimy Ridge and Lens. John was wounded and spent three months in a hospital in Étaples. HOLBROOK, Norma G. WWII Norma was born in 1922. She joined the Army and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada during World War II. She has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for more than twenty-five years.
