333 1962. Michael was hired by Canadian Pacific Airlines in May 1956. At first, Michael piloted DC3's to service Distant EarlyWarning Line camps along the Arctic coast. While in the cockpit Michael wrote poetry, his aircraft a “droning mote” hanging “like a silver minnow in a bowl/ whose ancient floor is fading to black.” Michael’ career with Canadian Pacific Airlines flourished, moving to the left seat as reserve Captain on a DC-8 in 1970. Seven years later, he began flying Boeing 747’s becoming a captain in March 1980. After Canadian Pacific sold the 747, Michael move to his beloved “Empresses” to fly as captain on DC-10’s, retiring in that position in 1991 with 22,000 flying hours in his logbook. After retirement he continued to travel the world and, in his lifetime, visited seventy-five countries. In 2016, Michael moved to Duncan on Vancouver Island where he lived happily surrounded by his daughters and their families. Michael died on the 20 December 2023 �
