325 � Phillip Hartman spent more than eleven years wearing the uniform of the Canadian Armed Forces before branching out into the civilian sector. Prior to starting his his own HVAC/R in 1989, he worked at Northern Telecommunications in their Fibre Optics division. While in Toronto, he worked for DELVCON as their Networking Customer Service Officer. He is also responsible for designing the voice response for students applying to register for colleges and universities across the province. As a Legion member, Phillip’s leadership skills and business sense resulted in his election to nearly every Legion executive position in his thirty-five-year Legion career. In 2012, he assumed the role of Westbank Branch President, saving Branch 288 from the brink of financial ruin. His second term as Branch President was in 2024. While employed as the Branch Service Officer, he completely redefined the role. He contributed to the Legion mandate by operating the Bursary Program, and acted as the Poppy Chairperson for years. Despite not being on the Executive this year, he still verifies the Branch’s monthly accounting and conducts the year-end audit.
