153 FELL ON THE FIELD OF HONOR.—A trench-picture of the late Capt. C. H. Crowdy, of the 13th Battalion, Montreal, who was killed by the explosion of a shell “somewhere in France.” According to his papers, Capt. Crowdy, age 26, was killed at Wulverghem by fragments of an enemy mortar bomb shell which exploded in Trench 134 about 9:25 p.m. on 19 October 1915, inflicting wounds in his back and thigh. He died from these wounds at 10:40 p.m. and was interred in Cite Bonjean Cemetery, Armentieres, on 1 December 1915. Charles’s wife, Lorraine, who was in England at the time of Charles’s death, returned to Canada and remarried, her new surname recorded as Worrall.
