15 A Message from the Lieutenant Governor As Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, it is my honour to mark the publication of this year’s edition of In the Service of Canada. In the Service of Canada exemplifies the phrase, “lest we forget.” It reminds us to be grateful for the service and sacrifices of people in our armed forces and RCMP. It reminds us that our nation is strong and free because of them. The stories in this edition are precious and important to our history. By recording veterans’ unique contributions to Canada, we ensure that future generations recognize their service and work to build and preserve peace and security across Canada and the world. On behalf of His Majesty King Charles III, King of Canada, please accept my gratitude to all who have taken the time to share their stories, for those who dedicate themselves to preserving these biographies, and to the veterans whose stories were told and will be remembered.
