Military Service Recognition Book

149 14 15 16 17 18 The GreatWar After the British evacuated the Gallipoli peninsula in January, 1916, Private Wilcox’s active service records show him embarking the Alaunia at Port Suez in March, 1916 and landing in Marseilles just over a week later. Three days after they disembarked, Private Wilcox was in Pont-Remy, one thousand kilometres north of Marseilles. From what I can put together, Fred made his way to Englebelmer, and at the end of April to MaillyMaillet and Louvencourt. I have discovered that looking for records and information on those who served can be a bit like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He undoubtedly ended up at the Gallipoli 1915.
