111 When describing his colleagues in the field, Rider-Rider often referred to those artists and photographers who “would go anywhere” with the utmost respect. For Rider-Rider, the role of official photographer—or artist, or cameraman—meant putting oneself in harm’s way just as any other member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force was required to do.
