He attended the Wooler School before enlisting in the Army in November 1942. Bill joined the Royal Canadian Artillery after completing basic training and served as a Gunner duringWorldWar Two. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned first to Caroline and then lived in Peace River, Alder Flats, and Rogers Pass before returning to Caroline in 1960 to his grandparents’ homestead. Bill worked as a mechanic and school bus driver in Caroline. He was a valuable member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 177 in Caroline for many years. Bill passed away on December 16, 2009. Bera, Adam Adam passed away in Edmonton on March 17, 2010, at the age of 87. Adam was a veteran of World War Two. He fought in the Battle of Monte Cassino (also known as the Battle for Rome and the Battle for Cassino) and in many other battles. Berge, Elmer Elmer was born on September 1, 1924, in Viking, Alberta. He joined the RCNVR in 1942 and served on HMCS Esquimalt until 1945, when his ship was torpedoed by a German U-boat and he was killed.
