John enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served until 1946 in North Africa and Italy. He passed away in 1988 in Millet, Alberta. Barton, Thomas Heath Thomas was born in Runcorn, Cheshire, England on August 11, 1897. He came to Canada with most of his family in April 1911 aboard the Empress of Ireland. Thomas farmed with his father prior to joining the Army on June 8, 1916. He trained with the 202nd Battalion (Edmonton) before being reassigned to the 10th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment) when he got to France. He was killed in action on August 15, 1917 in the Battle of Hill 70, just four days after his twentieth birthday. Thomas is buried in the Maroc British Cemetery in France. Bartram, V. J. V. J. Bartram was born in Milk River, Alberta in 1919. He enlisted inWorld War Two with the Royal Canadian Navy in 1938 and served aboard HMCS St. Laurent, Camrose, and Blairmore on the High Seas. He was awarded many naval awards. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Port Alberni RC Branch in British Columbia. He died in 2005.
