Applications are available from: • The Alberta-NWT Command website www.abnwtlegion.com or • An Alberta Registry Agent Office, or • The Government of Alberta website www.alberta.ca/licence-plates.aspx B. Include a photocopy of the following document(s) with the application: Military Retired Personnel • CF Certificate of Service, or • CF NDI75 card (both sides), or • Allied Forces Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Service, or • Canadian or Allied Merchant Navy Service Record Book, or • Proof of Medical Release under Section 3A or 3B. Military Still Serving • Both sides of the CF Identification Card and a current Military Personnel Record Resume (MPRR). RCMP Retired Personnel • Record of Service or ID Card. RCMP Still Serving • Service ID Card. Canadian Police Force • Letter from the Senior Commanding Officer certifying service in a United Nations or NATO Operation, including dates. C. Submit the original completed application, proof of service, a self-addressed/stamped envelope and a money order or cheque for $5.00 to: Alberta-NWT Command-Veterans’ Plate 2020 - 15 Street NW Calgary, AB T2M 3N8 The $5.00 application fee is required to cover administrative costs associated with processing the application. D. The Alberta-NWT Command will mail the approved application, in duplicate, along with the proof of service back to the eligible Veteran. E. To be issued a Veterans’ licence plate, the applicant must present the duplicate approved application to an Alberta Registry Agent. Normal requirements with respect to the issuing of licence plates (verification of valid insurance, proof of ownership, personal identification) will apply. Please keep the original approved application for future use. Regi st rat ion Fees Normal registration fees will apply for first time vehicle registrations and renewals. Veterans’ licence plates can be personalized; however, standard fees will apply. If a Veterans’ licence plate is lost or stolen, the standard replacement fee will apply. If a vehicle has more than one owner or lessee, at least one of the owners or lessees must be a Veteran to be eligible for a Veterans’ licence plate. Only individuals may apply for a Veterans’ licence plate. Organizations are not eligible. If there is an existing personalized licence plate on the Alberta Motor Vehicle system, then that configuration cannot be reused. A personalized Veterans’ licence plate shall have a maximum of five (5) characters for passenger class registration and class 2 farm plates.
