www.abnwtlegion.com 33 2024 Qualifications to Obtain a Veterans’ Licence Plate in Alberta To honour Veterans, the Province of Alberta has introduced a Veterans’ licence plate. Veterans are eligible to receive Veterans’ licence plates for all passenger or street legal motorcycle class vehicles registered in their name. This includes vehicles such as passenger cars, SUVs, station wagons, minivans, motor homes, light trucks, farm vehicles (with class-2 registration) and motorcycles (excluding off-highway). Veterans’ licence plates cannot be used on the following: • Vehicles with Commercial Class registration • Trailers • Off-Highway vehicles Who is Eligible? Eligibility shall be determined by The Royal Canadian Legion, Alberta-NWT Command Office. A Veterans’ licence plate is available to an Alberta resident who has been Honourably Discharged or is Still Serving under the following qualifications. Qualifications A. Must have served in either the Canadian Forces, Canadian Reserve Forces, Allied Forces or Commonwealth Forces during WWII, or in the Korean War, or in the Gulf War or in any NATO/UN Missions. B. Must have served in the Canadian or Allied Merchant Navy or the Ferry Command during war time. C. Is currently serving or is an honourably released member of the Canadian Regular Forces with a minimum of 3 years paid service or has been medically released under Section 3A or 3B. D. Is currently serving or served in the Reserve Forces with a minimum of 1,095 days (3 years) paid service. E. Is currently serving or is an honourably released member of the RCMP with a minimum of 3 years paid service. F. Is a member of a Canadian Police Force, who served in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation (NATO/UN). Alberta-NWT Command
