THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION ALBERTA-NWT COMMAND www.abnwtlegion.com 291 Tofsrud, Selmer O. “Slim” Slim was born in Watford City, North Dakota, USA in 1917. He enlisted in the RCAF in Edmonton on November 6, 1942. He served at Tofino, BC with the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. He was discharged at the end of the war. Slim was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Bluffton Branch and helped build the Legion hall there. He transferred to Ponoka Legion Branch 66 where he was a member for nineteen years, during which time he served on the Executive and as Clubroom Chairman. Slim died in 1997. Tomaszewski, Frank Vincent Frank was born in Sunnybrook, Alberta on May 18, 1924. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) in Calgary on November 5, 1943 and served as a Private. He took basic training in Victoria, BC, and then travelled across Canada to sail to Belgium. Frank was stationed in Utrecht, Holland for about 18 months. He was awarded the France and Germany Star. After his discharge on June 1, 1946, Frank returned to Sunnybrook where he became a partner in a local country store. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Pioneer Branch 144 in Thorsby for 61 years. Frank passed away on December 25, 2011. Tomlinson, Jean Jean enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in World War One and served in France until 1919. Jean was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Innisfree Branch 74. No further information was available.
