At the beginning of World War Two, Thomas enlisted in the Canadian Army. He served overseas for six years and saw action in Italy during that time. In 1951, Thomas reenlisted with the RCAMC and served in Korea. After his discharge, Thomas made his home inWetaskiwin, Alberta and worked with Northwestern Utilities. Thomas died on December 25, 1978. His father and brother also served in the Armed Forces. Seibles, Albin John John was born in 1922 in Viking, Alberta. He joined for overseas service in December 1942 with the Seaforth Highlanders Regiment, and served with the British 8th Army in Italy as a Private. He was killed in action in Italy on May 23, 1944. He was the first Viking boy to lose his life in World War Two. Semeniuk, John W. John was born in Sheho, Saskatchewan in 1914. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. He took basic training in Toronto and St. Thomas, Ontario, graduating with honours as an aircraft mechanic. John served in Ucluelet and Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island and Sea Island and Boundary Bay on the Lower Mainland coast of BC. He later served at Number 10 Repair Depot and Number 3 Flying and Training Centre in Calgary. He was discharged on August 20, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. John was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. John moved to Boyle, Alberta in October 1945 and opened a photo studio he later expanded to include insurance, real estate, and notary public services. He was Secretary-Treasurer for the Village of Boyle from 1954 until his retirement in 1979. John was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 169 in Boyle until he passed away on December 29, 2004.
