He enlisted with #13, D.D. on October 25, 1943 in Calgary, AB and served in the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps. He was with the Winnipeg Rifles, served in France, and was killed in action on August 15, 1944. Joe, known as a kind and gentle person, was a Stoney/Nakoda First Nation Wesley Member. His six siblings are also deceased. Price, Alfred Alfred was born at Aberaman, Wales on August 13, 1891. After coming to Canada, he worked as a miner in Beverly, Alberta. Alfred enlisted with the 51st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force on August 16, 1915. No further information was available. Putnam, Albert Albert was born on March 17, 1919, in Bon Accord, Alberta. His family moved to Grassland, Alberta in June 1932, and Albert helped on the family farm until he joined the Loyal Edmonton Regiment in late 1942. He served until the end of World War Two in Italy, Belgium, and Germany. Albert was wounded twice in Italy. After the war, he returned to Grassland and resumed farming, taking over the family farm in 1963 when his father passed away. In 1978, Albert sold his farm and moved with his mother to Cedar, BC. He took care of his mother until she went into a nursing home in Edmonton 1983. Albert had a short holiday in Holland in 1984 and was pleased to find the people were so friendly but the only familiar place was the cemetery. He always loved baseball, fishing, and curling, and later in life he enjoyed listening to football on the radio. Albert passed away on June 15, 1985, in Cedar, BC.
