THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION ALBERTA-NWT COMMAND www.abnwtlegion.com 199 McCoy, Albert Earl “Kid” Kid was born in Pendleton, Oregon, and came to Alberta as a young man about 1909. He homesteaded in the Butte, Alberta district until he joined the Army and served overseas during World War One. He returned to farming in Butte after the war. McGee, John Benedict John was born in Wallsend-on-Tyne, England in 1916. He immigrated to Canada and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War Two. John served in Europe and North Africa. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 131 in Jasper and served as President. John passed away in 1992. McLaren, Alexander Gray Alexander was born on December 23, 1914, in Viking, Alberta. He enlisted in World War Two with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and was posted to the prisoner-of-war camps training centres and later overseas with 23 C.G. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe as a surgeon. He was offered a regular commission in 1946 and served for 25 years in the United Kingdom, Korea, and the army hospital in San Antonio, Texas, USA. He returned to Canada in 1955 to several military command appointments. He retired from Western Command in 1968. Alexander was awarded the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, the Canada Decoration and Bar, the Centennial Medal, the United Nations Medal and Bar, and other campaign and service medals. Alexander passed away on November 17, 1991.
