He served in the Polish Armed Forces as a Corporal in the 15th Regiment of Podolian Uhlans duringWorldWar Two, from September 1, 1939 until the end of the war and then served until June 15, 1947. Stanley was captured by the Germans and spent six years as a POW in a concentration camp. He was awarded the Medal of the Army on July 1, 1948. Stanley immigrated to Canada after the war and settled in the Grassland region in Alberta. He passed away on September 29, 1989. McAllister (Darbyshire), Betty H. “Bets” Betty was born on February 28, 1926. She met Staff Sergeant Russell McAllister of the 5th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment in Hastings, England in 1943. She was the daughter of a Royal Marines Artillery Corporal with 41 years of service. Betty joined the British Army ATS shortly thereafter. They were married on February 10, 1945 and had five children, three girls and two boys. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Strathcona Branch 150 for 25 years. Betty passed away on April 1, 1987. McAra, John Cameron John was born in Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland on February 11, 1890. He came to Canada and worked as a labourer in the Chailey area of Alberta. John enlisted in the 51st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on January 8, 1915. No further information is available.
