www.abnwtlegion.com 17 People Behind the Poppy Alberta-NWT Command THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION SERVICE BUREAU The Royal Canadian Legion wishes to ensure that all eligible Veterans, serving persons and their dependents, receive benefits to which they may be entitled. Our Service Bureau network provides all Veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and their families, assistance free of charge, whether or not the Veteran is a member of the Legion. Founded by Veterans for Veterans, the Legion is devoted to supporting those who have served and continue to serve our country. Please contact one of our Service Bureau Offices, if you are interested in receiving information concerning various benefits provided by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) such as: • Processing disability and pension claims • Assistance with claims under My VAC Account • Veterans Independence Program (VIP) • PTSD Treatment When applying for emergency assistance through our Poppy Fund, a means test will be required (Statement of Income and Expenses) along with completion of our Legion Claim application. The legion claim application will be used to determine if the Veteran is entitled to any or additional benefits with VAC. Poppy Funds are used for emergency assistance only and cannot be continued over an extended period.
